Australia has become the first country to approve a vaccine targeting chlamydia in wild koalas - a disease responsible for blindness, infertility, and death in this iconic marsupial. Developed over 10 years, the single-dose vaccine could drastically improve survival.
With support from the $76 million "Saving Koalas Fund," conservationists will expand the rollout across Queensland and New Louth Whales. While medical advances help, experts stress that habitat restoration remains key to the species' long-term survival.
