Rare Snail Once Declared Extinct Returns to the Wild

The tiny Partula Tohaveina snail, native to French Polynesia, has made a triumphant return to the wild after being declared extinct decades ago.

Over 6,000 individuals raised in captivity were reintroduced into their native habitat thanks to long-term breeding by ZSL and partners.

The snail's comeback highlights how even small, overlooked species can recover with global cooperation, investment and patience.
